I'm sorry to be gone so long, but I've been in a winter funk, and have turned into a real slacker. I haven't had much to post. I want to say thank you to new followers Flowerlady Lorraine, Mama Pea from Homegrown Journal, Sharon from Morning's Minion, Henny Penny, and TC Goatldi.
We've had a lot of snow out here in the toolies, and the temps have been pretty brutal. Maybe they just seem brutal for this time of year. I have to say, I have no memory of a colder Easter or post-Easter week.
The birds have really been going through the sunflower seeds like it's going out of style!
The squirrels have been hangin' in there too!
This grey squirrel hanging on the feeder in the last frame is the first I've seen here for a long time. Normally, only red squirrels have lived here on the farm for years.
I hope we can get some sunshine tomorrow. It makes all the difference in my outlook. Have a good weekend!
Phil
We find that the Red Squirrels are really destructive around here, the Greys are better behaved. I understand the winter funk, it sure has been cold...hang in there ...Global Warming was supposed to be a problem...and the lakes are still making ice go figure:)
ReplyDeleteReds are really bad, to the point of getting into the attic last fall. Ya, I don't think they talk much about global warming anymore, now the fancy phrase "climate change." Ha.
DeleteHello Phil, I am so pleased to see you blogging again, I really love your blog. Winter can be gloomy and depressing I find it affects my outlook on things, roll on Spring!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if we are lucky we will have some warming this coming week. I hope!
DeleteSo pleased to see a post this morning! I think we've all been in a bit of a funk waiting for spring to arrive. We're way farther north of you so you can imagine we've been really cold. Only 8 degrees this morning upon arising. (And that was IN the house! Haha, that's a running joke with hubby. Actually the inside temp was 54. We didn't bank the fires before going to bed. Big mistake. :o])
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so good. Seems like a month ago I was ready to put the peanut butter feeder for the birds away, but the last couple of weeks they've been going through it like it was January. What's with this weather??
54 is a cold wake-up! We might have 20's today, but down to 6 tonight, they are saying. Oh well, maybe better next week.
DeleteGlad to see a post from you and that all is ok, except for your long cold winter weather hanging around.
ReplyDeleteIn s.e. Fl, we barely had a winter, spring will be a blip and summer will be here shortly.
I've also been in a funk, then have been sick this whole week with a bad cold. Feeling a bit better today thanks be to God.
Have a nice weekend ~ FlowerLady
I lived in Miami on the edge of the everglades from 1980-1997. I suppose you are experiencing your dryer season right now until the summer rains explode. I remember the bouganvillea was nice this time of year.
DeleteThere's nothing like some warm sunshine to lift one's spirits. We've had rain every day so far this month. If April showers bring May flowers we'll be overwhelmed!
ReplyDeleteI hope the rain isn't more than you can handle, though. I hope we have a gentle thaw soon and some light rain to clean it up. Snow tomorrow.
DeleteThere has been some really severe weather conditions worldwide, Spring is teasing us...
ReplyDeleteIt sure has, but I'm hoping maybe next week for a little warm breeze and warming from the southwest to dry things out.
DeleteI've been watching for another post. Most of us have fairly quiet routine lives--enhanced by our keen habits of observation and our love of sharing the homey details.
ReplyDeleteWinter is indeed reluctant to let go--and we are so ready to get on with springtime chores.
Maybe it's good we can deal with the routine. The daily hum-drum is actually comforting while we wait for winter to finally leave us.
DeleteYou certainly have been having snow! Great shots of the birds and squirrels, though. And your kitty cat. :) I think we're all looking forward to an end to winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been a long winter, but maybe it makes us stronger and more appreciative of the spring to come.
