Geraniums at Thanksgiving

Geraniums in the winter have been growing in this same room since my grandparents moved on this farm in the late 1930's, my parents in the 1980's and now I've carried on the tradition. I can't really explain what meaning the atmosphere of it all brings to me.

I hope you have a very Blessed Thanksgiving, however you celebrate the day. Because of the snow, plans have changed here, but it will still be just as meaningful.

A couple pictures of Annie this time. She was finally in the posing mood.

And one of Josey getting ready for bed.

Getting to my place at Thanksgiving isn't exactly "over the hills and through the woods." It's more like "down that straight gravel road and to the left at the dead end." But it is home just the same.

Peace be with you at Thanksgiving.
Phil

  2. What a wonderful tradition! And what a treat to have geraniums at thanksgiving. Annie and Josey are beautiful. Very smart to stay warm and cosy when there's snow on the ground. :)

  3. Annie and Josey are beautiful cats. What would a home be without them?
The geraniums that summered on our east porch are now nicely settled in the sun room; several have recovered from pruning and are putting out cheerful scarlet blooms.

    1. Something about the geraniums that just make a house "home."

  4. For some reason, I've never had any success with geraniums, inside or out. I love them so am enjoying yours.

    1. Thanks for visiting. When I lived in Florida I found the best care for geraniums was just "benign neglect" in kind of a shady spot. Happy Thksgvg!

  8. How I wish I had a window area in which to keep geraniums all winter. The splash of color must give you joy whenever you pass by them. And also bring to mind all your lovely family memories! Your pictures are always so gorgeous. Keep it up!

  12. I had the same geraniums for years! But I couldn’t bring them back from overwintering this past year. I’d put them out in big pots during the warmer season then bring them inside and pretty much forget about them for the winter. This worked for about 10 years but they decided enough was enough this year. I miss them. Yours are so pretty!
